      Update from ASCSU Front Desk

  1.  We want to thank you all for your patience as our front desk hours remain a little sporadic due to Covid. Members who were not in contact with sick staff will continue to cover their shifts, and we are doing our very best to make sure everyone’s needs are met during this time. Please continue to send requests through the front desk email, and know that we are working diligently — even if updates like the website take a little longer than usual.

The most important update is that Senate minutes from last week will be included in next week’s newsletter. We apologize for the delay and truly appreciate your understanding. In the meantime, some generous individuals have shared their personal notes for accessibility purposes, and we are grateful for their support.

  2. Best wishes,

    Gracie Wilson

ASCSU Updates

Court Tracker

In lieu of training and onboarding of the Court, there will not be a Court tracker submitted for the first few weeks. There will be a summary email sent each week updating ASCSU on the Court’s progress.

MANDATORY TITLE IX TRAINING

Hello all! The last opportunity for mandatory Title IX/Responsible Employee training is going to be held in the Senate Chambers on September 26th from 6pm-7pm.

As a volunteer or employee representing the university, you are required to take training to learn about your responsibilities as a ‘Responsible Employee.’ “All CSU employees, including student employees, and volunteers, are designated as Responsible Employees and are required to report any information related to incidents of sex-based discrimination, harassment, interpersonal violence, and/or retaliation disclosed to them to the Office of Title IX Programs and Gender Equity.”

That said, if you cannot make this training time or have completed a training with a different department already this year, please let me ([email protected]) know. I also understand that this topic can be difficult to discuss for many people. If that is the case for you, I am happy to work with you for a suitable alternative.

Thank you for your time and attention!

Spotlight Submissions

Each week, the Front Desk chooses to recognize a different member of ASCSU. If you would like to acknowledge somebody for their projects/accomplishments/hard work/professionalism, share with us below!

Fostering Access, Value, and Purpose in Higher Education with Dr. Angie Paccione

In this episode of Signals, Laura Glaab sits down with Dr. Angie Paccione, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education, for a conversation about leadership, opportunity, and the evolving value of higher education. From her groundbreaking path as the first African American woman to receive a full-ride basketball scholarship at Stanford, to teaching, coaching, serving in the state legislature, and ultimately shaping Colorado’s higher ed policy, Dr. Paccione’s story is as inspiring as it is wide-ranging. She shares the bold initiatives Colorado has launched—from awarding associate degrees retroactively to expanding tuition support for foster and homeless youth—while unpacking the uncertainty of higher education funding and the growing focus on workforce value and outcomes.
Beyond policy, Dr. Paccione reflects on the personal lessons that shaped her journey, from navigating college on a shoestring budget to defining leadership through service and the activation of human potential. With her signature energy and candor, she discusses how experiences, values, and passion intersect to drive both personal growth and systemic change. Listeners will also hear her powerful perspective on Title IX, equity in education, and why she believes every student carries “stored greatness” just waiting to be activated.

Graduation Gown Lending Library Information

Hi all,

As this is the first semester the Graduation Gown Lending Library is lending regalia to students, I wanted to give you all a quick run-down of the program and how it works so we can best support students who come into the office with questions when a member of EA is not present. I’d appreciate it if you pinned this email for the fall semester.

How It Works:

Students can fill out the rental request form through:

Once students submit the form, I will:

  • Email them to confirm which regalia items they requested and the pickup date they selected.
  • Work with them to arrange an alternative if they cannot make their chosen pickup date.
  • Include their personalized return date in the email (based on what they submit on the form).

Fall 2025 Pickup Dates

  • September 29: 12:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m.
  • October 6: 2:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • October 20: 2:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • November 5: 1:30 p.m.–5:00 p.m.

I will be in the office for the full duration of these pickup times. Students must sign a short contract acknowledging that failure to return their regalia will result in being placed in bad standing with ASCSU. No student should be coming into the office to pick up regalia outside of these times unless they are working directly with me, please do not assist a student in getting regalia from the Environmental Affairs office.

FAQs:

1. Can a student rent regalia in the fall if they are graduating in the spring?
Yes! Students can rent regalia during either semester for photos, commencement, or other celebrations. However, they cannot keep regalia from fall through spring. If they wish to rent for both semesters, they must complete the process twice.

2. When do items have to be returned?
The final return date for the fall semester is December 1, 2025. Each student will also receive their individual return date based on their rental form. In spring, we will have specific return windows that will be available on the ASCSU website and provided to students through the initial email.

3. Do we have master’s or doctoral regalia available?
No, at this time we only serve undergraduate students. However, we are accepting donations of master’s regalia.

4. How can someone donate regalia?
Donation instructions are available on the ASCSU website under the Resources tab. Our marketing team will also post reminders on social media. We accept all gently used undergraduate regalia and master’s regalia. Full sets are not required, individual pieces (cap, gown, tassel, etc.) are welcome.

Reach out with any questions!
