Financial Operations
Vision Statement
The vision of ASCSU’s finance department is to fiscally support students and student organizations through the grants that we offer. Support and perpetuate organizational financial accountability through the use of departmental budgets and financial trainings for all three branches. Our goal is to provide financial transparency to the student body and any interested parties.
Key Projects
Financial Education Series
To empower students with essential life skills, the department is developing a comprehensive Financial Education Series in collaboration with industry professionals. This initiative goes beyond standard curriculum to provide the student body with accessible, expert guidance on personal finance topics, bridging the gap between campus life and financial independence.
Seed Grant Reinstatement
By writing and passing legislation to reinstate the Seed Grant, the department has restored a critical funding source specifically designed for new Registered Student Organizations (RSOs). This initiative removes financial barriers for emerging student groups, ensuring that fresh ideas and new communities have the necessary resources to launch and thrive on campus.
Cultural Event Funding & Support
The department successfully finalized funding and payments for major campus cultural landmarks, including Taste of Africa, India Nite, and Yalda Night. Ensuring these large-scale events are fully funded and administratively supported allows diverse student organizations to focus on delivering high-quality, impactful cultural experiences to the wider student body.
Travel Grant Accessibility & Reimbursement Efficiency
To better serve students seeking professional development, the department eliminated backlogs to ensure travel grant reimbursements are processed promptly. Furthermore, the team is developing video tutorials and website updates to clarify the application process, specifically addressing confusion between undergraduate and graduate student eligibility to make these funds more accessible.
BSOF Information Sessions
To increase transparency and access to student fees, the department launched and hosted Board for Student Organization Funding (BSOF) Information Sessions. These events provided student organization leaders with direct guidance on how to navigate the grant system, ensuring that a wider population of the student body is aware of and able to utilize available financial resources.
