Vision Statement

ASCSU Marketing and Communications aims to build a stronger, more connected CSU campus by making ASCSU’s voice, impact, and resources accessible and engaging for every student. We creatively tell the story of the CSU student experience by highlighting the voices, moments, and movements that matter most to our campus community. We lead with innovation to empower student voices and deliver clear, authentic, and impactful communication that drives engagement and change at CSU.

Key Projects

Growing Food Security & Thanksgiving Meal Kits

By partnering with Growing Food Security and the Basic Needs Department, this initiative aims to grow and donate over 10,000 pounds of fresh produce while providing Thanksgiving meal kits to students facing food insecurity. These efforts directly address essential student needs by securing sponsorships and creating targeted marketing campaigns that ensure vulnerable populations have access to nutritious food resources.

“What Does ASCSU Even Do?” Transparency Campaign

This comprehensive multimedia campaign bridges the communication gap between student government and the student body by explicitly highlighting available resources and organizational transparency. Through a mix of video content and social media engagement, the initiative clarifies how student fees are utilized and empowers students to access the support systems funded by their tuition.

Lory Student Center (LSC) Speed Tour Video Series

Designed to help students navigate campus more effectively, this engaging video series introduces key LSC offices, programs, and support services to the general student population. The project demystifies campus life by visually guiding students on how to get involved and access vital resources, fostering a stronger sense of connection to the university community.

Student Elections and Civic Engagement Strategy

To increase democratic participation and meet a voter turnout goal of 17%, the department launched a robust marketing strategy including the Local Election Roundtable and incentivized voting campaigns. These efforts ensure students are educated on their representation, providing platforms for direct engagement with candidates and distributing “I Voted” materials to build a culture of civic responsibility.

Garth Englund Blood Center Drive Collaboration

In collaboration with Basic Needs and UC Health, this project utilizes high-visibility merchandise design to promote a campus-wide blood drive supporting the Garth Englund Blood Center. By leveraging professional branding and distribution networks, the campaign mobilizes the student body to contribute to critical community health needs and supports a life-saving cause.
