Senator Requirements

A student representative responsible for amplifying your voice and interests, writing legislation to address needs, and working to make change on campus.

Senators must…

  • Be enrolled in at least one on-campus credit
  • Work 5 hours per week outside of Senate sessions
  • Be in good standing with CSU and ASCSU

Senators are responsible for…

  • Attending all Senate sessions on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM
  • Writing legislation concerning CSU students
  • Representing their council or SDPS office
  • Attending mandatory diversity workshops
  • Adhering to ASCSU governing documents
  • Understanding parliamentary procedure and bill-writing

Senators are held accountable to…

  • You, the student body, via ASCSU general election
  • Their respective council or SDPS office
  • Speaker of the Senate

Associate Senator Requirements

A student representative responsible for amplifying your voice and interests, writing legislation to address needs, and working to make change on campus.

Associate Senators must…

  • Be enrolled in at least one on-campus credit
  • Work 3 hours per week outside of Senate sessions
  • Be in good standing with CSU and ASCSU

Associate Senators are responsible for…

  • Attending at least 1 of every 3 Senate sessions
  • Writing legislation concerning CSU students
  • Representing their council or SDPS office
  • Voting on behalf of an absent senator
  • Attending mandatory diversity workshops
  • Adhering to ASCSU governing documents
  • Understanding parliamentary procedure and bill-writing

Senators are held accountable to…

  • Their respective council or SDPS office
  • Speaker of the Senate
