Unified Success
Vision Statement
The vision of the ASCSU Department of Unified Success is to foster a cohesive CSU by championing inclusive, student-centered initiatives that uplift all identities and communities. We are committed to building meaningful connections across campus and institutionalizing both pathways into ASCSU and pathways for student success more broadly.
Key Projects
Restoration of Free Speech Policy
In a major victory for student rights, ASCSU successfully advocated for the university to rescind restrictive new expression rules and restore the 2022 policy regarding campus protests. This advocacy ensures that student voices remain central to shared governance and protects the community’s right to peaceful assembly and free expression without facing opaque administrative hurdles.
Academic Resource Upgrades (“The Bone Bill” & Lab Safety)
Directly addressing classroom resource shortages, ASCSU allocated $1,100 to the Morgan Library to purchase disarticulated human skeleton sets, significantly improving study accessibility for anatomy students. Additionally, the department successfully championed a resolution to repair malfunctioning dental lights in the Human Gross Anatomy lab, ensuring a safer and more effective learning environment for Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences students.
ASCSU RSO Biweekly Digest
To streamline communication for student leaders, this project launched a centralized, opt-in newsletter system that replaces scattered updates with a reliable resource pipeline. By November, the system had secured over 75 subscribers, providing Registered Student Organizations with critical information on funding, room bookings, and involvement opportunities to help them operate more efficiently.
Graduate School Accessibility & Test-Prep Library
Tackling the “graduate school illiteracy” gap, this initiative partners with OURA and TILT to launch a three-part informational series designed to demystify advanced degrees for marginalized students. Simultaneously, the department is utilizing allocated funds to build a lending library of physical test-prep materials (such as GRE and LSAT books), directly reducing the financial burden for students preparing for entrance exams.
ASCSU in the Classroom
Bridging the gap between student government and the student body, this outreach pilot delivered over 10 direct presentations to classrooms and organizations during October alone. This initiative successfully increased transparency by engaging students directly in their learning spaces, sparking immediate dialogue about how they can utilize ASCSU resources and influence campus decision-making.
