Get Involved with U+2
U+2 is a decades-long occupancy ordinance in Fort Collins that restricts households to a maximum of 3 unrelated people. The policy was first implemented in the 1960s but formally enforced in the early 2000s.
In the 1960s, many immigrant farmers would bring their families to Fort Collins for the harvest season and would live together with other immigrant families to conserve costs. However, Fort Collins residents at the time were concerned with noise and other issues brought on by a growing population.
U+2 keeps rents high.
U+2 disproportionately targets students.
With U+2 removed; every three homes leased to capacity provides another home for students to lease.
